My Roomie Wins Prelim!!!
Goodness has a ton happened since I last blogged!! Tonight was absolutely FABULOUS to say the least. As usual tonight, I was deathly afraid of on stage question, but I could not be more happier with how it went.
Rewind to last night's prelim--talent night for me. I need to elaborate on my fall. It was at the very end of my dance; I was so incredibly excited that it was almost over. I was so pleased, until I ended up on the floor with only 3 seconds left in the music. I just wiped out. I have no idea why or how, but I hit a hard reality--the floor. I guess I recovered well--or that's what people said to make me feel better! :) I walked off stage, and I really figured I would burst out in tears, but surprisingly, I was incredibly calm and collected. Just a small bruise where I landed.
Ok, fast forward to tonight. So I'm dressed in my interview outfit, and I'm about to go on stage when the girl a few numbers in front of me sneezes like Donald Duck for her on stage question--HILARIOUS to say the least. She definitely gave me a good laugh before going on.
So I walked up to the platform, dreaded sticking my hand into the bowl to pull out a question. That was like sticking your hand into a tank of flesh eating fish or something. Piranhas?
This is similar to the question I got, but it was worded differently. "If you could promote one item, what would that item be?" It was a lot longer actually, but I'm not sure exactly what all it said. As the emcee is reading the question, things like Victoria's Secret and Firm Grip are going through my head, and I'm about to panic. I know those are inappropriate to say on stage. I open my mouth and this comes out:
If I could be a spokesperson for an item, it would definitely have to be for rubber grips that you put on the bottom of your shoes. You all saw me hit the floor last night, I could definitely use some!
WHAT?! I was soooo happy when I walked off stage; that question could not have been better for me. :)
Evening gown went wonderful too. My roomie, MISS UGA, Briana won the evening gown prelim in her mermaid dress--she was BEAUTIFUL!
Anywho, before prelims, we had rehearsal at the crack of dawn and then went to the golf tournament that benefits the Miss Georgia scholarship fund. Here, we met the president of the Miss America Organization. He was in town on a book tour and attended the prelim tonight.
The golf tournament was hot and rainy, but we had a good time.
I still have some funny stories from the other day, but it's bed time for me. We actually get to sleep in the morning--WOW!!!
Can't wait to be back in Albany soon!!!

Talent Night
This post is going to be super short; I have to be up in like 6 hours--ROUGH!!
Talent with alright tonight. I was super happy until the end--when I somehow fell down. Oh well, no biggie!! My bones just hurt now. LOL.
I really need to be getting to sleep, but today was such a blast. We rehearsed and visited the new army musuem. Great stories to come, but it's bed time for me!!!
XOXO,
Kimberly

Swimsuit is over! CALORIES HERE I COME!
Today started bright an early at 7:00 AM! Yuckie! Immediately, we reported to the stage for dress rehearsal. After running the show, we went to publix for lunch, which was super super yummy!!!
After Publix, we got to visit the Columbus Hospital and tour the High Risk Nursery. It was so amazing to see exactly where all the money raised for CMN goes. We also ate dinner at the hospital. The staff prepared us an AMAZING themed dinner, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!" This was complete with crowns, necklaces, rings, and jewelry. Definitely the best so far.
After dinner, we got to run back to the apartments and straight to the theater to get ready for opening night!!!!
It was such an amazing time. I just competed in swimsuit, and I want to say thank you to everyone for their sweet messages and texts. They really mean so much to me. I wish I could send you all replies!!!!
The prelim winners were Christina McCauley (swimsuit), Kristina Higgins (talent), and Kristen Little (evening gown). All of the girls were just awesome!!! CONGRATS!!!
After the show was over, I finally got to see my family (including Scott and Mandy--my adopted fam!!) This was so much fun. I definitely needed it because I haven't really been able to talk to them much or see them all week. However, visitation was CRAZY!!! It was mass chaos to say the least.
I wish I could give more details, but I am absolutely exhausted and need to get some sleep.
More tomorrow!
Kimberly
PS. Tomorrow--I compete in talent and remember this:
Diamonds will ALWAYS be a girl's best friend!!!!

Prelims Start Tomorrow.. WHAT?!
Today could not have been a better day! I woke up at the crack of dawn to get ready for my interview, and WOW, was it worth it. I have never been so happy with an interview. The Miss Georgia Organization/Board selected an AMAZING group of people, and everyone seemed to come out of their interview very happy.
They have a hard task before them, but I am confident that they will do a fantastic job.
After dancing back to my room (in my heels BTW) I sat down to write thank you notes to people who contributed to Miss Georgia week.
We then went to lunch at Texas Road House where we had salad, fries, and ribs...YUMMY!!!!
After lunch, we came back to the apartment. Since I had interview in the morning, I had a very calm and relaxing afternoon--A 2 HOUR NAP! I never nap, but it was superb to say the least.
After our two hour nap, it was time to eat again. This time, Briana, Melissa, and I were almost left. Everyone was in the bus before they realized we were missing. Wow, I feel important.
Anywho, we went to Burger King--HEYYYY!!! Sadly, it was nothing like the youtube video. I would have gotten a kick out of that.
After Burger King, we were shuttled to the theater for on-stage pictures in evening gown. Every girl's dress was beautiful. I wish I could just have them all. After pictures, we had our PJ party with the princesses. It was a blast; a group of us sat in a circle playing the game where you act out a word or phrase. I know the name, but I can't spell it so I won't attempt to try. :) I had to act like a tarantula, and I think some guy with a video camera caught me using my fingers as fangs as I crawled on the ground. Oh joy, I can't wait to see that.
After the PJ party, it was back to the dorms. I just finished up a quick ab and leg workout, and I'm about to shower and sleep. BIG DAY TOMORROW..PRELIMS START. Time to hit that stage in 4 inch heels and a bikini. Lovely.
Remember, the show starts at 7:30, and the link to the live broadcast on the internet can be found a few entries down or at www.missalbany.org
Miss you all so much! Cross your fingers for me!

T'was the Night Before Interview...
I have interview at 9:00 in the morning. So I really need to be reading up on today's latest news and watching Jon and Kate Plus 8. I will give up the quick highlights of my day and give more details tomorrow after interview.
- Woke up--WAY TOO EARLY.
- Theater to record our swimsuit competition voice overs. This is such a great part of the pageant because you get to hear each girl talk about herself.
- Lunch at the Impact Center--THIS WAS AWESOME!!! Chasity's mom hosted us, and we got to hear a portion of her family sing. It was phenomenal.
- Back to the theater for more practice.
- Dinner at (I forgot the name!) but it was yummy! Such great dinner buddies too.
- Back to theater for a talent run through
- My group got to leave early! YAHOO!!
More details tomorrow. Time to get ready for interview!

Oh The Rehearsals Continue...
Goodness, what a great day. This morning, I didn't roll out of bed until about 9:45. Can you believe that? I slept wonderfully in my new bed with my new roomies. Surprising the first night away from home wasn't bad at all.
A little surprise this morning--my room didn't get the memo that we were meeting 20 minutes earlier than the schedule said, so we were running out the door with make-up and hair brushes in hand, but after we managed to get situated, we climbed on two Columbus State buses (I got on the short bus!) and went to McDonalds to eat lunch. Oh so healthy. I was surrounded by girls ordering salads. I looked at the cashier and said, "Can I get a double cheese burger and some fries please?" Probably not the smartest decision I've ever made, but it was enjoyable.
After lunch at McDonalds, we went back to the theater for more rehearsals. We joined the teen contestants for opening number, which gets better and better every day! I can't wait for you all to see it. After a two hour rehearsal, it was time to eat again! (I like this week--we eat a lot!) We climbed into the buses to go to a little hotdog diner called Cooks. After eating, I debuted my fabulous singing ability via karaoke. Check out the video posted at the bottom.
After Cooks, we went back to the stage for more rehearsals. This time, each girl got to run her talent on stage. Wow, we have a huge group of amazingly talented girl. If you can attend the pageant, you are in for a treat. We actually got done with it all very quickly, and now we are back in the room.
Briana and I just went searching for the work out room and decided to return to the hostess room for pizza. She just tried to sabotage my swimsuit body though.. she took one piece. I was trying to pull two apart, and she made me take them both! HAHA! JK! We gave the other piece to Melissa! :) Roomie Love.
Oh, and we just tried to stick Melissa in a duffle bag. Check out the attempt.. HILARIOUS!
I'm about to take a shower and hit the sack. It's a long day tomorrow, but check out the pictures and lovely singing video.
Miss you all! Kimberly

Off to bed!
So I finally got my internet up..what a mess, but it was just in time for me and my roomies to watch a Georgia girl get 2nd Runner Up at Miss Louisiana. It definitely got us pumped up for the week.
I think Scott and Mandy updated you on the check in today, so I'll tell you a little bit about our first day of rehearsals.
First we met with our hostesses and got our tshirts for the week. They are so cute.
Then at 4, we went to the theater--WOW. I've never been in it when it wasn't filled with people. It is the most amazing and overwhelming feeling being on that stage. I cannot wait to see it packed with screaming and smiling people. After getting settled in, we rehearsed opening number. I'm not going to give away what it is, but it is really cute and different from any other year. It is a little scary for me though because I'm #1 so I definitely have to know where all the patterns go since I lead the pack. UH OH!
After our first rehearsal, we had pizza and krystals in the green room, and it was back to the stage for more practice.
We finished up swimsuit, swimsuit production, evening gown, evening gown production, and On Stage question.
I am having a great time, but I am absolutely exhausted so it is shower time and lights out!
More tomorrow!
xoxo,
Kimberly

MISS ALBANY ARRIVES IN COLUMBUS, GA!!!
Hello Albany!!!
Kimberly arrived in Columbus, GA today and "moved in" for MISS GEORGIA WEEK!!! After a completely nutritious lunch at BURGER KING (where she had it her way!), we dropped her things off at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts where the pageant is held. You can only imagine all the hanging racks and dresses that lined the hallway, not to mention all the unmentionables in the dressing room!!
From there, we went to the apartments and checked in for the week!!!! After several trips up and down stairs, elevators, and hallways, we found her apartment and unloaded a UHAUL - just kidding, but close to it!!! There, we unpacked and got things settled. The scene for the day was everyone watching myself and Kimberly's dad make her bed. My only question is: Why were they looking at us as if we don't do that at home?. HA HA.
A bonus in her apartment are her hostess "mom", Janet, and two lovely roommates: Briana Jewett and Melissa Eldridge. From the looks and sounds of things, this apartment has got it "goin' on!"
At 3 pm sharp, she had her first meeting, so that meant we had to depart!!! Fond farewells to Kimberly and we were back on the road to ALBANY, where we will spend time packing, packing, and packing to return to Columbus on Wednesday for the start of preliminaries.
GOOD LUCK MISS ALBANY!!!

Uh oh.. The Countdown is Over! I LEAVE TOMORROW!
Earlier this week, Ms. Cathy Scott came into town to finish some alterations to my talent outfit. She is PHENOMENAL to say the least. Everything fits like a glove, and I couldn’t be happier with my entire wardrobe, which came from Mr. Keith Pittman at Lasting Impressions! As Mandy would say, I definitely am willing to win in it as well as to lose in it!
Last night, the crew came over and helped me label and pack everything. It is absolutely insane everything that I have to take. Not only do I have to take all my competition stuff, but I pack EVERYTHING that I need to live in a dorm for a week. That means I need sheets, pillows, towels, blankets, garbage bags—THE WORKS! It’s really crazy. But I think we’ve got it all done.
Today, I enjoyed a manicure and pedicure after lunch (chili cheese fries from Krystal—YUMMY!) and a massage at the Comfort Zone. I definitely needed to relax and take my mind off everything.
Before I ship off, I’ll let you all know my basic schedule for the week:
Saturday—Check-in, Rehearsals
Sunday—Rehearsals
Monday—Rehearsals
Tuesday—INTERVIEW! Just cross your fingers for me!
Wednesday—Swimsuit! THINK SKINNY!
Thursday—Talent! Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend!
Friday—Evening Gown and On Stage Question! Prelims are over!
Saturday—Miss Georgia Farewell Luncheon for Chasity Hardman, 1ST RUNNER UP TO MISS AMERICA
Miss Georgia Finals and Crowning of our new Miss Georgia
Sunday—Either Check-out OR Sign Miss Georgia Contract! (Let’s hope it’s the latter!)
Also, I won’t have my cell phone on me for the majority of the week. We aren’t allowed to have them in rehearsal, etc, but I will have it with me when I’m in my apartment. If I don’t respond to a text or a phone call, please don’t get offended; they are much appreciated but the week is just super busy.
Lastly, I will TRY to blog nightly for everyone to keep up with me during the week, but I can’t promise that I will get to it every night since I definitely need my sleep. However, I promise you will get a complete recap eventually! I can’t tell you how much everyone’s support over my preparation means to me, but this week is when I need it most. Please feel free to leave me a comment on here or on my Facebook. It would mean the world to me, and if you can’t make it to the pageant, the Columbus station will broadcast it every night on the Internet. You can find it at http://www.wrbl.com/rbl/miss_georgia. It starts nightly at 7:30!
Much love,
Kimberly

Beauty Is Pain!
So, here is a quick run down of everything I’ve done this week to get ready! Monday, I went to a fitness class at Tony’s called “Butts and Guts.” There is a warning on the class description that says it is only taught once a week due to intensity. I guess I should have listened to the warning because Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I couldn’t walk or dance. Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty much the same. Workout, tan, dance, errands. However, I did have to take a break from all the prep to celebrate my darling Wiggles’ 15th Birthday!! We cooked steak and wore birthday hats!
Thursday, I decided to take a spinning class to see what all the hype was about. I actually really enjoyed it. Warning: IT HURTS TO SIT ON THE SEAT. Seriously, everything about working out is painful. Ha, but beauty is pain… I guess. By the time Friday rolled around, I was exhausted. I repeated my daily routine, but for some reason had a few minutes of spare time in the afternoon. I debated taking a nap, and finally decided that I had earned it. I curled up in my bed, put my head on the pillow, and all I could think about was everything I should be doing instead of sleeping. Finally, I feel asleep—but not for long. You will never believe what happen. My mom came into my room, walked over to my bed, looked at me and said, “What are you doing?” ARE YOU SERIOUS?! My eyes are closed, the lights are out. Can you not see that I am trying to SLEEP?! Oh well, I had to pick on her for that. It is hilarious now, but at the time, I was livid.
Today, I woke up and spent a few hours with Scott, Mandy, and the girls at the dance studio, and then Daddy took me shopping for my rolling tool box to put all my shoes and jewelry in back stage. It’s the first thing he has been able to take me to get. I think (or hope) he was excited that he finally was able to do something. However, I think my favorite part of my week was the fact that I spent more time picking out eyelashes and fingernail polish than I did deciding on my competition wardrobe. It’s the small decisions that I can’t make…Grr!
Well that’s all for now. Make sure to keep checking back as I count down the final days!

And So The Countdown Begins...!
I’m Kimberly, Miss Albany 2009, and I’d like to welcome you to my Miss Georgia blog. Here, you will be able to keep up with everything I’m doing in these last thirteen days before I pack up and leave for Miss Georgia. I will also continue to keep you posted all during Miss Georgia week when I have free time from rehearsals and other daily activities!
I must say that this weekend was such a blast! Saturday, I had my “On To Miss Georgia” party at my house, and I got to show off my entire Miss Georgia wardrobe. For everyone who got to come, I really hope you had a great time because it meant so much to me that you were there! I also had some friends up from FSU, which was such a blast because I haven’t gotten to see them all summer since I’ve been home preparing for Miss GA.
Tonight, I had dinner with Scott and Mandy (Miss Albany Executive Directors) and their two daughters, Hannah Grace and Emily (I get the best advice from these two!) Hannah Grace didn’t like the idea of my wearing yellow eye shadow and yellow lipstick for interview; I told her I thought the judges would love it, but she nixed that idea really quickly. Darn, haha! At dinner, we just talked about my final preparation, things I need to buy, and things I need to make sure I pack. I really can’t believe it is right around the corner; keep your fingers crossed that the final tweaks go according to plan!!!
Bye for now!
Kimberly
